This playlist was curated by Arthur Jafa to accompany Tina Campt’s words on the practices of refusal as a mode of survival from racialized life, which emerges from Campt’s critical engagement with Jafa’s experimental film practice.

Taken together, Campt’s readings of the phonic substance of Jafa’s images and Jafa’s response through music models a multisensory mode of critical engagement with the poetics of black life.
